Arriving at Ciampino Airport
1. Rome to Arcidosso by train and bus
There is a bus from Ciampino airport to Termini Central Train Station, managed by Terravision (www. terravision.eu). The fare is € 6 and the trip takes about 40 minutes. The bus stop is located outside the departure area. If you reserve the bus ticket on-line, the price is € 4. The same trip by taxi costs € 30.
At Termini you can catch a train to Grosseto and from there a bus to Arcidosso. (on Sundays and during holidays there are fewer runs)

2. Rome to Arcidosso by bus
( Monday, Friday and Saturday only, at 3.15 pm)
Once in Termini Central Station you must take the underground (B line) to Tiburtina train station. The ticket costs € 1 and can be bought at news stands or on the automatic machines. The bus terminal is on a square next to the station. The bus company is called Bargagli. The bus leaves at 3.15 pm on platform 13. It arrives in Aiole (next to the road leading to the Merigar hill) at 6.45 pm, in Arcidosso at 6.50 and in Castel del Piano at 6.55.
Tickets can be bought on the bus without surcharge for € 15.
Arriving at Fiumicino Airport
3. Fiumicino airport to Arcidosso by bus
(on workdays only, 2.55 pm)
There is a direct connection to Grosseto run by RAMA bus company. The bus stop is in front of Terminal 3.
The ticket can be bought on the bus for € 11. The bus continues for Arcidosso after 10 minutes.

4. Rome to Arcidosso by bus
( Monday, Friday and Saturday only, at 3.15 pm)
If you arrive in Fiumicino airport you can reach directly the Tiburtina train station with a special train leaving from the airport. The service starts at 5.57 am and ends at 11.27 pm. You can buy the ticket next to the train platform for € 8. Trains leave every 30 minutes. It takes about 45 minutes. Once in the Tiburtina station see point 2.
5. Rome to Arcidosso by train and bus
You must reach the Termini Train Station with the special train leaving from the airport. The service starts 6.37 am and ends at 11.37 pm. You can buy the ticket next to the train platform for € 14. Trains leave every 30 minutes. It takes about 32 minutes.
The taxi fare from the airport to Termini is around € 40. If you can share the cost is more convenient, but the train is much faster.

The RAMA bus terminal is just outside the Grosseto train station. In some cases you must change bus at Paganico. The bus service operates Monday through Saturday. The ticket cost is € 11 and can be bought at the train station’s newsstand, at the RAMA counter in the bus terminal square or on the bus. The time table below is valid until june 13. We will update it after that date.

*These buses stop in Aiole next to the road leading to the Merigar hill. From there you can walk or get a lift to the top of the hill.
Driving to Merigar
Option 1
Take the autoroute A1 from Rome, exit at Fabro and follow the directions to S. Casciano dei Bagni - Via Cassia – Piancastagnaio - Arcidosso.
Option 2
Take the Via Cassia from Rome up to the Piancastagnaio intersection and drive up the mountain up to Aiole
(see point 2). The road leading up the Merigar hill is dangerous, so please drive carefully.
Option 3
Take the Via Aurelia from Rome up to Grosseto. From there procede on the s.s. 223 (Grosseto - Siena) until you reach Paganico. From Paganico follow the directions for Monte Amiata up to Arcidosso. Once in Arcidosso continue in the direction of Santa Fiora going uphill, until you will find the Merigar road sign on your right.
